Talk about a challenge that is out of sight and out of mind. I haven’t talked to you all about it since October 29th. I have not thought about it since. . .November 2nd.
A large part of why I recently decided to start writing a post every day was because I knew that there were whole parts of the project that I had not thought about in weeks. This is one of them.
I got busy on other parts of the project—writing more specifically, and I don’t know where I want to go with this challenge right now. While the writing is going well, I don’t want to take away from my mental bandwidth learning something quite so complicated as programming. Just now. Even Scratch, the programming language for kids I was using is still a massive time sink. Until I have at least one screenplay completed, I think that I’m not really going to think too hard about this challenge.
I am putting a pin in it for the next ten days.
Unrelated, but important topic:
I know that I say drop me a line every time I end a blog post, but this time I really mean it. I want to pick your collective brain. I need a system for time management and organizing my workday. Every time I try a new system, my perfectionism takes over and I get obsessed with plotting out every moment of my day. I last about two or three days, but it’s too ridiculous and then I get struck with an acute case of the fuckits and go back to chaos.
I’m not going to list all of the systems and tools that I have tried unsuccessfully; please know that I have tried almost all of them. That said, this newsletter and my project is about trying to succeed at doing things that I have been unable to finish for one reason or the other.
So.
Don’t hesitate to tell me all about it!
You and me both, brother.
A couple of guidelines and caveats:
I am most interested in hearing from people like myself, who have struggled mightily with organization, and have found a solution. Even better, they are a person who has an ADHD diagnosis or other learning difficulties that have made organization more challenging.
Normies are totally and completely welcomed to submit ideas, but please know that there is a baseline of dysfunction that needs to be addressed with any organizational fixes.
A system that does not demand perfection, but is flexible enough to work in a variety of scenarios would be ideal.
Free, if possible. Or under $10—unless you are paying for it, of course.
Thank you, as always, for reading.
