It’s hip to not have hip pain
Hey hipsters and hepcats, I have injured my hip in a very square way.
I have hurt my right hip badly while washing dishes at the American Legion post near my house. Last Thursday, I helped my friend, Chef Diane, get ready for an event at the post, and somehow, spending less than an hour scrubbing hotel pans injured me pretty badly. How badly? It hurts too much to sit on the toilet for longer than 30 seconds, badly. I cannot put on pants right now, badly. I was going to vote today, but I don’t think I can hobble to our polling place dressed only in a terry cloth bathrobe, badly. Sorry, Bernie. I’m going to try to rally before the polls close, but it doesn’t look great.
Needless to say, I’m not doing any challenges right now. I can only sit comfortably in a strange half-laying, half-stretched out right leg position, which is why I am typing this on my iPhone. And it is slow going. Substack does not have an ‘undo’ button, which is tedious when using a PC, but unforgivable while using mobile.
I have an appointment with my primary care doctor tomorrow. Hopefully she can help me find relief. This is a situation where her being a doctor of osteopathy is probably an advantage.
I am going to text my physical therapist for advice. None of the usual stretches have done anything to alleviate the pain—in fact they have quite exacerbated it. She’ll hopefully have just the right stretch.
